What Volunteers Do

Our team keeps the pantry running smoothly. Typical roles include:

  • Stocking & Sorting: Unpack donations, check dates/quality, stock shelves.

  • Distribution Support: Greet neighbors, guide traffic, load vehicles, and offer friendly help.

  • Check‑In & Hospitality: Provide a warm welcome and answer basic questions at intake.

  • Food Rescue & Deliveries (select roles): Help pick up donations from partners or support limited delivery runs.

  • Cleaning & Reset: Wipe‑downs, organization, break down boxes and pack groceries for next distribution.

Don’t worry if you’re new, most tasks are simple, team‑based, and taught on the spot.

"Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world. For, indeed, that's all who ever have".

- Margaret Mead

What to Expect

Scheduling & Hours: Please note the number of volunteers needed fluctuates. Volunteers are rotated as often as possible to ensure those who want to volunteer have an opportunity.

The Operations Manager determines how many volunteers are required. Hours and roles may vary depending on the needs of the Pantry.

Weather & Cancellations: We operate rain or shine, but severe weather may alter operations. If a shift changes, we’ll notify scheduled volunteers by email/text as early as possible.

Dress for the weather and movement: Comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty.

Closed toe shoes are required. No sandals or flip flops.

Lift smart: Some roles require lifting. Let us know if you need a lighter‑duty task.

Dignity matters: We serve neighbors with respect, privacy and kindness always.
