Frequently asked questions

What is a food pantry?

For some, a food pantry is a source of emergency assistance. For many, it is a supplement to low or fixed income, loss of income due to illness or job loss, or loss of second income for single parents. Food pantries help provide nutritious food to babies, children, seniors, veterans, and struggling families. Our food pantry provides enough groceries for a minimum of 3 meals per day for at least 3 days for each person in the household.

How is a food pantry funded and staffed?

We rely on the generosity of the community though voluneteer efforts and individual donations of food and financial support. Just a $1 donation can help provide $8 worth of food. Time or treasure...every gift has immediate impact. To learn more on how you can help go to our Give Help Page.

How do I get help?

Please register online or get a paper application at the food pantry on Thursdays from 5:30pm - 7:00pm.

What do I need to bring with me to register for help?

In order to properly social distance, we will not ask for identification during the pandemic. Until further notice the food pantry will provide drive-thru service. We will ask you for your last name and number of family members. You will recieve food on the first day you come even if you have to bring your application back the next week...you won't leave empty handed. Please arrive with your trunk empty and unlocked.

How often can I come to the food pantry and when?

You may come to the food pantry every week. Food distribution is on Thursdays from 5:30pm - 7:00pm. Because we operate out of a business establishment, Engineering Enterprises, we ask that you don't enter the parking lot until 5:30pm.

Why do you need to know how many I have in my household?

The amount of food you recieve is based on the number of people in your household.

Is my information kept confidential?

Yes, your information is kept strictly confidential. Under no circumstance will we share your information to any person, agency or organization without your consent.

What if I can't pick up the food myself?

You are welcome to have someone pick up your groceries. Just let us know who will be picking up for you via email. director@sugargrovefoodpantry.org.

What if I don't live in the area, where can I get help?

We are not turning anyone away. Find your local food pantry here.
